Ryan Du

Systems engineer and full-stack builder. At work I run the firewall and VPN links that connect an offshore development team to production. On my own I ship complete products end to end: the client, the licensing backend, payments, deployment, and the simulator and reinforcement-learning pipeline behind a trained combat bot. All of it is self-hosted on a server I run.

#pissclienta closed-source Minecraft cheat client, and the platform behind it.

pissclient

A licensed Fabric client for Minecraft, built and run end to end. Yes, it's a cheat client. The interesting part is the combat bot.

  • Sword bot trained with reinforcement learning. A duel simulator that matches vanilla sword combat, checked by a parity harness, and MLP, GRU and transformer policies trained with PPO league play on 3,047 recorded fights.
  • Distillation. The transformer is distilled into a GRU, ported to Java, that matches PyTorch to within 6e-6. A distributed training hub lets volunteer PCs help train.
  • Inference server. Models run on a WebSocket server, so they never ship in the client.
  • Licensing backend. Fastify and TypeScript on PostgreSQL and Redis: accounts, revocable sessions, machine-bound licences and Stripe billing.
  • Client. Combat and movement modules built to get past open-source anticheats, a Hyprland-style desktop UI, and GLSL shaders on OpenGL and Vulkan.
PersonFormer, the most advanced sword bot, drawn the way pissclient's own visualizer draws it: what it sees, each block's residual, the heads' hidden layer and the keys it picks, with orange lines pushing a node up and blue pushing it down. Under each block, where its four heads looked back. The shape is real (d128, 4 blocks, 4 heads, 256-tick context, ~875k weights); the numbers here are made up, since the trained model never leaves the server.
#mineuxa desktop for Minecraft. the look you're seeing right now.

MineUX

pissclient's desktop-style UI with every cheat removed, as a standalone Fabric mod. One account for the game, friends and chat.

  • Full and Lite editions, built so pissclient can sit on top of it.
  • Live screen sharing between friends through a relay, built on a Rust native screen-capture library.
  • Accounts, friends, DMs and IRC on a TypeScript and PostgreSQL API, live at mineux.com.
  • Modrinth release coming soon.
#ambiencea Minecraft subscription client I own.

Ambience

I joined a friend's client as a developer, then took over as sole owner of its codebase, database and subscribers.

  • Ported my pissclient sword bot and its adapt brain to C++, called from the Java client over JNI.
  • Billing and licensing. Built and run its Stripe billing and licensing, with licences bound to the machine at sign-in.
#peexel-casinoa multiplayer casino MMO with play-money chips, on Steam.

Peexel Casino

A server-authoritative multiplayer casino for Windows and Linux: poker, blackjack, roulette, slots and Big 2, all with play-money chips and a cryptographic RNG.

  • Server. Game logic in TypeScript modules on Nakama, with separate production and dev stacks. Restarts refund in-flight bets so chip balances stay correct.
  • Client. Godot 4 with Steam sign-in, a cashier shop, tiered loot, raid bosses and a desktop-pet mode that turns the window into a click-through overlay.
  • Trust and safety. Mute, block, rate-limited player reports, in-game bug reports and a web admin panel with an audit log.
  • Shipping. Self-hosted CI with game-rule tests and a two-client network test, automatic deploys and a scripted Steam build. 300+ merged PRs.
#gembotmy own AI chatbot for Discord.

gembot

A Discord bot on the Gemini API that you just talk to. No slash commands.

  • MCP tools for live stock prices, live web search and indexing, and game statistics.
  • Hooked up to Hermes, OpenClaw and pi.dev.

Systems Engineer

SpringUp Solutions · April 2025 to now · mostly remote

  • Run the company's network, VPN and server infrastructure, mostly remotely, with occasional on-site work at its colocation datacenter.
  • Installed and configured a Zyxel firewall at the colocation site, including NAT, routing and an IKEv2 VPN that gives the offshore development team secure access to the servers.
  • Built a site-to-site VPN between the colocation firewall and the in-house production server.
  • Set up the office router on OpenWrt with split-horizon DNS for the platform's app and API subdomains.
  • Keep remote administration VPN-only, and wrote the internal network runbook.

self-hosted

One server, everything on it

Every project here runs on an Oracle Cloud VPS I set up and look after. This site too.

  • pissclient auth, inference and training services
  • MineUX API and site
  • Ambience auth server and build pipeline
  • Peexel Casino production and dev Nakama stacks, plus CI
  • gembot

Services run under systemd, Docker Compose and pm2 behind an nginx reverse proxy with certbot TLS. Apps and databases stay off the public internet.

On the side: Terraria and All the Mods 10 game servers on Oracle Cloud ARM instances, with a Python asyncio bridge that streams console logs to Discord and runs commands both ways.
